Lotus The Galeries: Lotus Express! - CBD

How do you spend your lunch break? Do you quickly go to the nearby deli or maybe eat a lunch pack at your desk with one hand on your keyboard? 

Since we all have limited time for lunch break, Michael Jiang, the owner of Lotus Dumpling Bar has teamed up with Head Chef Chris Yan (ex-Billy Kwong and China Doll) to create a Lotus Express menu, where in 30 minutes they will serve simple and accessible modern Chinese menu that goes beyond their award-winning dumplings.

Contrary to its sibling in Walsh Bay, Lotus Galleries is a big 270-seat minimalist restaurant flooded with natural light during the day and has the welcoming feel with its blue and earthy ceramics tone combination. 
 

The floor staffs were so attentive and service was pretty quick as not long after we ordered the Lotus Express menu, our first appetizer came! These Spring Rolls have juicy and flavorful King Brown Mushroom as well as finely shredded napa cabbage wrapped in a thin crackly crisp wrapper. 
 

When you look at this dish, you'll have to agree that Chef Yan somehow transforms these simple ingredients into an elegant combination of healthy and tasty salad. Fresh apples are just perfect because they have a fresh, crisp, sharp taste that works well in thin slices. Smoked salmon has that distinct flavour and delicately goes very well with the apple and a touch of sweet and bright zesty ginger lemon dressing.

Our main dish was this Crispy Chicken in Spiced Soy and Ginger Sauce. Served with rice and blanched bok choy in oyster sauce, the chicken has pale-golden crisp skin with tender and moist meat. The spiced soy sauce here plays an important role to boost the flavor out as the chicken tastes a bit bland when eaten without the sauce. 
 

So I guess now there's no need for you to go to the same sandwich shop everyday knowing that with $30/person (minimum 2 people per booking), you can get all these top-notch dishes all in 30 minutes lunch break!
